A word that I found difficult to understand was cellophane but I broke it down and tried to think of word that sound like cellophane then I thought of cillicon which is kind of weird but I
2. Choose two words from F451 made up of roots, prefixes or suffixes. Break down the word and define and discuss its component parts.
Theword apprenticeship, the root word is apprentice which means beginner, and the suffix is ship which means the status or condition. So the word means the status of a apprentice.
One word from F451 is luxuriously, the root is luxury which means great comfort, and the suffix is –ly which means in the manner of. So the word means living in luxury.

A difficulty I had was understanding all the the quotes from F451. A strategy I used was paying attention when we went over it and read over it, make connections, and think for a while.
4. Provide examples from F451 of each of the following elements of figurative language. Discuss what they are and how they are used. (Metaphor, Simile, Personification, Hyperbole)
Metaphor: A figure of speech in which an expression is used to refer to something that it does not literally denote in order to suggest a similarity (An example would be, "She is a mountainous creature". Instead of saying "like" or "as", metaphors just use them as adjectives.)
Personification: This is a literary device in which inanimate objects are given humanly attributes (An example would be like the movie Toy Story. Toys aren't really able to think, talk, or move...but in the movie, Toy Story, the toys are given humanly attributes).
Hyperbole: A hyperbole is used to show a statement by exaggerating. (an example would be, "Chuck was so sick that he felt he was capable of barfing up a lung". Of course, Chuck can't really barf up a lung, but this is just exaggerated to show how "sick" he is.)
Simile: A figure of speech that compares things using the words, 'like' and 'as'.
5. Provide examples from F451 of each of the following literary devices. Discuss what they are and how they are used. (Foreshadowing, Idiom, Imagery, Alliteration, Monologue, Dialogue, Assonance, Analogy, Onomatopoeia, Mood, Tone)
Foreshadowing: Montag, a funny thing. Heard tell this morning. Fireman in Seattle, purposely set a Mechanical Hound to his own chemical complex and let it loose. This is an example of foreshadowing because later in the book Beatty had set a Mechanical Hound to kill Montag.
Alliteration (Alliteration is repeating the same sound repeatedly): one forty-five. Is alliteration because it repeated the same sound of F.
Idiom: A meaning or phrase that has doesn't mean as it literally sounds. (For example, "To have the upper hand" has nothing to do with hands - it just means to have the advantage.)
Imagery: Imagery is used in writing to appeal to one or all of the five senses. (For example, "The swishing sound the dress made against her legs wafted the scent of fresh laundry up to her nose." This sentence uses the "hearing" and "smelling" senses)
Monologue: A long and uninterrupted speech that is given by one single character.
Dialogue: This is a conversation between two or more people.
Assonance: This is the repetition of vowels to create rhyming in sentences or phrases.
Analogy: This is used to explain when something is similar to something else.
Onomatopoeia: This is used when words are said that sound like real life sounds.
6. How does foreshadowing play a role in the plot of F451? Provide examples.
Foreshadowing plays a major role in the plot. Some examples are the mechanical hound in the beginning, another example is Montag looks at the ventilator many times, and this is where his books are hidden.
7. Compare a character in F451 with a character from a different novel that you have read. Give specific examples from the text.
I compare Montag to Harry Potter because he is the first character that came to my mind for some reason. Montag is like Harry Potter more then you think. They both change and transform throughout the story. In the beggining they are just doing the same routine.
8. Based on F451, what inferences could you make about Bradbury’s point of view of society? Support your inference with two specific references to the novel.
Bradbury’s point of view on society is that books are slowly going away and we are getting less intelligent. A specific reference is in the book books are banned and it is illegal to own them, and people aren’t thinking at all they let the TV do the thinking for them. Another point of view I think Ray Bradbury had was that even in its worst time you can rebuild. It is supported because after the bomb is dropped and nothing is left of the city, Granger talks about rebuilding society and with books this time.
9. Based on the information in F451, what inference could you make about what must have happened before the story began? Include one detail from the story in your answer.
Technology has developed and people slowly forgot about books. I think this because the TV’s are able to talk to you, a mechanical hound, the green bullet Montag puts in his ear, and they can also replace your blood while you’re still at home. All this technology probably made them drift away from books, and didn’t leave anyone time for thinking.
10. What are two elements typical of a drama? Discuss whether F451 would be suitable for dramatization.
2 elements are Suspense and foreshadowing are typical of a drama. I think F451 would be suitable for this because there is lots of suspense like when Montag burned Beatty up. There is also lots of foreshadowing, when Beatty talks about someone programming a mechanical hound to kill someone, and when Montag looks toward the ventilator where his books are hidden.
11. Give an example of imagery from F451 that creates a sense of peace and explain how it creates this feeling.
There must have been a billion leaves on the land; he waded in them, a dry river smelling of hot cloves and warm dust. And the other smells! There was a smell like a cut potato from all the land, raw and cold and white from having the moon on it most of the night. There was a smell like pickles from a bottle and a smell like parsley on the table at home. There was a faint yellow odour like mustard from a jar. There was a smell like carnations from the yard next door. He put down his hand and felt a weed rise up like a child brushing him. His fingers smelled of liquorice. This creates a sense of peace because it is him alone in the river and just taking in the aroma of the land around him, it gives this feeling because you can just imagine him smelling all of these and feeling relaxed.
12. Give an example of imagery from F451 that creates a sense of fear and explain how it creates this feeling.
The procaine needle flicked out and in, out and in. A single clear drop of the stuff of dreams fell from the needle as it vanished in the Hound's muzzle. This creates a sense of fear because the single clear drop of the stuff of dreams that fell from the needle, can kill you.
